After humming and hawing about whether to venture out at all, we Jitka, Brian, Dominic, Al Bowman and I decided to take look at Carnethy hill.

Brian decided to see how lightweight he could go and decided to fly in a harness that I think is best described as a thong. He didn't even bother taking gloves. etc. I was flying new kit too. A Charly Tube Harness that I bought off Terry Stubs.

Generally it was not all that eventful, but nice to get a flight on a day that promised to be pishing. It is not often that you get to ridge soar on Carnethy, but today was one of those days so we had a bimble. The interesting part of today was the conversation with ATC.

I called to open the airspace for Carnethy and took off. Had a wee fly around, and then my phone starts ringing and ringing and ringing. I think it must be important so I risk loosing it and answer in mid air. It was ATC, but I could not hear them. So I quickly landed at the launch site and phoned them back. Everything was fine, except they were a bit confused as to which bit of airspace to open up. I don't think I could have been clearer in my explanation.

I had another fly about and then flew to the cars because it started to drizzle. After everyone had landed I called in to ATC to close the zone at about 2pm. However, ATC then called again at 6pm mid england-ireland rugby match and asked if we were still flying. I said I had called earlier to close the zone. She had not been passed the note!

Looks good for Bishop tomorrow...
